Food bags material recommendation

Retort bags

Packaging requirements:

used for meat packaging, requires high barrier property,resistant to puncture from the bone, without breaking,shrinkage and smelling in the high temperature retorting.

Material recommend:

Clear bags:BOPA/CPP,PET/CPP,PET/BOPA/CPP,BOPA/PVDC/CPP,PET/PVDC/CPP,GL-PET/BOPA/CPP
Aluminum bags:PET/AL/CPP,PA/AL/CPP,PET/PA/AL/CPP,PET/AL/PA/CPP

Recommendation reason:

PET: High temperature resistance, good rigidity, good printability, high strength.
PA: High temperature resistance, high strength, good flexibility, good barrier, puncture resistance.
AL: Best barrier property, high temperature resistance.
CPP: high temperature resistant steaming , good heat sealability, non-toxic and odorless.

PVDC: High temperature resistant barrier material.
GL-PET: Ceramic evaporation coating, good barrier property, microwave permeable.
For specific products to choose the right material, clear bags are mostly used for retort bags, AL foil bags can be used for ultra-high temperature retort bags.

Snack bags

Packaging requirements:

Packaging requirements: block the oxygen and moisture,smell-proof,grease-proof,Straight appearance, bright colors and low cost.

Material recommend:

BOPP/VMCPP

Recommendation reason:

BOPP and VMCPP are both bracing, BOPP has good printability and high gloss, VMCPP has good barrier, fragrance and moisture retention, CPP also has better grease resistance.

Sauce bags

Packaging requirements:

Odorless and tasteless, low-temperature sealability, resistance to seal contamination, good barrier properties, and reasonable price.

Material recommend:

KPA/S-PE

Recommendation reason:

KPA has excellent barrier property, good toughness, high fastness to PE compound, not easy to break , and good printability. S-PE is a kind of PE blends (co-extrusion), low heat sealing temperature, strong resistance to sealing contamination.

Cooking bags

Packaging requirements:

good barrier properties, light-proof,grease-proof,and high mechenical property,and crisp

Material recommend:

BOPP/VMPET/S-CPP

Recommendation reason:

BOPP has good rigidity, good printability and low cost.

VMPET has good barrier property, light-proof and resistant to oxygen and moisture.

S-CPP has good low temperature heat sealability and grease resistance.

Powder bags

Packaging requirements:

long shelf life, aroma and flavor preservation, anti-oxidation and deterioration, anti-moisture

Material recommend:

BOPP/VMPET/S-PE

Recommendation reason:

BOPP has good printability, good luster, good strength and low price.

VMPET good barrier, light-proof, good toughness, with metallic luster.

S-PE has good anti-pollution sealing property and low temperature heat sealing property.

Tea bags

Packaging requirements:

Anti-deterioration, that is, to prevent the oxidation of the protein, chlorophyll, catechic acid and vitamin C type contained in tea.

Material recommend:

BOPP/AL/PE BOPP/VMPET/PE KPET/PE

Recommendation reason:

AL foil, VMPET, and KPET are all materials with excellent barrier properties  to oxygen, moisture, and odors. The light proof properties of AK foil and VMPET are also excellent. The product price is reasonable.

Ground coffee bags

Packaging requirements:

Resistant to oxygen and moisture, resistance to lumps of the product after vacuuming, and keep aroma of coffee.

Material recommend:

PET/VMPET/PE,BOPP/VMPET/PE

Recommendation reason:

PET,BOPP and VMPET has good barrier property ,and PE has good heat sealability..

Chocolate pacakging

Packaging requirements:

Good barrier properties, avoid light, beautiful printing, low temperature heat sealing.

Material recommend:

Pure Chocolate:White BOPP/PVDC/cold sealant
Chocolate with nuts:BOPP/VMPET/AD/PVDC/cold sealant

Recommendation reason:

Both PVDC and VMPET are high-barrier materials. The cold sealant can be sealed at a very low temperature, and the heat will not affect the chocolate. Because the nuts contain more oil and are easy to oxidize and deteriorate, an oxygen barrier material is added.

Drink pouches

Packaging requirements:

Acidic beverages pH <4.5, pasteurization, and general barrier properties.

Neutral beverages PH > 4.5, sterilization, and higher barrier

Material recommend:

Acidic beverages:PET/PE(CPP),BOPA/PE(CPP),PET/VMPET/PE
Neutral beverages :PET/AL/CPP,PET/AL/PA/CPP,PET/AL/PET/CPP,PA/AL/CPP

Recommendation reason:

For acidic beverages, PET and PA can provide good barrier properties and are resistant to pasteurization, and the shelf life is prolonged due to acidity. For neutral beverages, AL provides the best barrier properties, PET and PA are with high trength, and high temperature sterilization resistance.

Liquid detergent bags

Packaging requirements:

High strength, impact resistance, burst resistance, good barrier properties, good rigidity, can stand upright, resistance to stress cracking, and good sealing.

Material recommend:

①Front and Back:BOPA/LLDPE;Bottom:BOPA/LLDPE

②Front and Back:BOPA/S-BOPP/LLDPE;Bottom:BOPA/LLDPE

③Front and Back:PET/BOPA/S-BOPP/LLDPE;Bottom:BOPA/LLDPE

Recommendation reason:

The above-mentioned material has good barrier properties, high material rigidity, suitable for stand up pouches, and good bottom flexibility and suitable for production. The inner layer is LLDPE, which has good anti-sealing pollution. S-BOPP increases the mechanical strength of the material and strengthens the barrier properties of the material. PET improves the moisture resistance and mechanical strength of the material.
